Bakewell is best known not only for its puddings and tarts but for its independent shops, beautiful surrounding scenery and Monday market. It is also known for the many varied events held throughout the year, the Monsal trail, quaint courtyards with their many cafes and eateries and much more…
Set in the centre of the Peak District and close to Chatsworth House, it is ideal for a base for sightseeing, photography and outdoor activities.
The Monsal Trail is situated within walking distance of the town centre and offers traffic-free walking, cycling and horse riding taking in some beautiful scenery along the way.
From the 5th – 11th May there will be a special VE80 trail in Bakewell.
This will include the Poppy Flag (a large flag made locally from hundreds of knitted poppies), a poppy trail commemorating all the local soldiers lost during the Second World War and the flag from the ‘Falklands Flag Ship’.
