A warm welcome to Bakewell

'The Ancient Capital of the Peak'

Bakewell is best known not only for its puddings and tarts but for its independent shops, beautiful surrounding scenery and Monday market. It is also known for the many varied events held throughout the year, the monsal trail, the love lock bridge, the quaint courtyards with its many cafes and eateries and much more…

Set in the centre of the Peak District and close to Chatsworth House, it is ideal for a base for sightseeing, photography and outdoor activities or just relaxing.

The Monsal Trail is situated within walking distance of the town centre and offers traffic-free walking, cycling and horse riding taking in some beautiful scenery along the way.

Free Parking in Bakewell

Derbyshire Dales District Council are encouraging people to shop local this Christmas by introducing free parking across the district from 1st December.

In a scheme designed to boost trade, for the 11th year in a row, it will be free to park in any District Council pay and display car park after 2pm throughout December.

The free parking initiative was introduced by the District Council in 2008 to help local residents and businesses during the economic recession.
