Bakewell’s Tourism Figures Were The Highest of the Year Over Its ‘Christmas Weekend’

Saturday, 30th November and Sunday 1st December saw hundred’s of visitors visiting Bakewell for its third, fun-packed, Christmas Weekend event.

The Tourist Board reported that these were the highest tourism figures this year and some local traders commented that they saw the best trading days ever!

Coaches came from far and wide and visiting market stall holders also commented that they would now prefer to choose Bakewell above any other similar events.

Craft stalls selling Christmas decorations and gifts were a plenty plus a host of food and drink stalls lined the busy streets. There was something for everyone.

This year saw the market square buzzing with entertainment including local choirs, musicians and dancers. Take away food was a plenty from an Austrian Barbeque to Italian Street food, the aromas and sounds filling the street were Christmas to a tee.

Children were delighted at the sight of Santa’s reindeer in Bath Gardens, and had their letters ready to post to Santa.

Local people commented that they had never seen Bakewell so busy and this is a tribute to the planning of this now ‘bench mark’ event.
