A Quintessential English Christmas Market


There will be around 100 stalls and gazebos situated on Market Street, Granby Road and Riverside Crescent, many of which are from our beautiful Peak District.

We are proud to support British Legion Riders and they will display their magnificent motorbikes and charity stall on Bridge Street and in the main Market square. We are also proudly supporting Bakewell Brownies and Rainbows, Age UK Bakewell Day Centre and Weston Park Charity Stalls.



Bring your friends and family to the beautiful Peak District Town of Bakewell and enjoy a weekend ofseasonal entertainment over the weekend. Our quintessential English Christmas Market will feature some traders from our famous Bakewell Monday market alongside a mouth watering selection of speciality festive foods and wines from the Peak District, arts and crafts, gifts for all the family and much more. We are sure you will be spoiled for choice.


We have family entertainment during the weekend, at dusk our Saturday Christmas Tree Light Switch on in Bath Gardens 4.45 Saturday and a wonderful selection of independent shops, cafes, delis, pubs etc. So come along and join in the festivities of the Bakewell Christmas Weekend and see what other surprises Santa has in store!


~ Christmas Tree Light Switch On organised by Bakewell Town Council,  Bath Gardens 4.45 Saturday 25th November

~ Listen for the sound of jingle bells as Elf Mills Shetland ponies and santas helpers come over the bridge (10-30 - 11) on to Riverside Crescent. 

~ The Salvation Army will be playing on Saturday from 10.30 until 3.00 on Granby Road

~ Santa will be in his grotto at the Old Original Pudding Shop, Bridge Street

~ Visit the Wheatsheaf Hotel and book breakfast with Santa,a very special breakfast with Father Christmas himself.

~ British Legion Riders display next to Bakewell Tourist Information, Bridge Street

~ Face painting with Rachel

~ The Minions will be mulling through the crowds both days from 2.00 onwards

Tiroler Stuberl (Bakewells Austrian restaurant) on Water Street are hosting throughout the weekend a barbecue with speciality Austrian sausages Kasekrainer (smokey with lumps of emmental cheese) and Bratwurst - traditional Austrian sausage

~ High Peak Donkey Rides will be on Water Street both days

~ Children's roundabout on Water Lane and more roundabouts, including the new mini big wheel on Granby Road

~ James and his Owls and new for this year BOND the bald headed eagle on Granby Road

Betty and Poppy, the two Shetland ponies will provide carriage rides on Market Street throughout the weekend

~ There will be buskers around town adding to the festive spirit

~ Daisy the restored Routemaster London bus bar serving mulled wine, spirits and beers

~ Smokehouse rustic log cabin

~ The Wee Dram will have a wonderful selection of Scotch Whiskies and free tastings

~ Reindeer in Bath Gardens on Sunday 26th from 2.00 - 4.00 p.m

~ Edale Mountain Rescue will be present on Saturday

~ Buxton Sea Cadets will be present on Sunday

Bakewell Visitor Centre Christmas Special Saturday & Sunday. Call in at the centre to meet photographer Chris Gilbert, from 12noon until 2pm. Chris will be signing copies of his latest book ‘Photographing the Peak District: A Photo Location and Visitor Guidebook’Chris will be talking to visitors about the inspiration he finds in the Peak District landscape and explaining how to capture the best shots.

Hot chestnuts, pulled pork, burgers, sausages, vegetarian, choccy churros,  mulled wine, liqueur coffees, mince pies, brownies, cakes, gin, wines, beers, Christmas wreaths just to name a few of our specialities from the Peak District and Derbyshire

Entertainment:

Our entertainment gazebo will be near the arch on the market square and we proudly present some of the best entertainment from Bakewell and the Peak District.

4.45 Christmas Tree Light Switch On 4.45 Bath Gardens - Follow The Minions and Rachel  to Bath Gardens where she will sing and entertain along with the British Legion Riders, they will rev their bikes and mass headlight switch on for the countdown to the Christmas Tree Light Switch On for Bakewell Town Council 4.45

Bakewell Town Council have arranged a visit from the Reindeer in Bath Gardens from 2.00 on Sunday
